Proxmox Backup

Ransomware can't delete what it can't reach.

Offsite storage for Proxmox Backup Server, with your own datastore in the EU. Nobody in your network holds credentials to the offsite copy, so ransomware has no path to it.

How it works

Two ways
to connect.

Recommended

Pull

Pull mode Your Proxmox VE backs up to your local PBS. A copy is transferred to the offsite PBS automatically. Your site NoroNetwork, EU Proxmox VE Local PBS Offsite PBS backup copy encrypted connection

Keep a local PBS for fast restores. A copy is transferred offsite automatically. Nobody in your network, ransomware included, holds credentials to the offsite copy, and deletions on your side do not propagate.

No local PBS

Direct

Direct mode Your Proxmox VE backs up straight to the offsite PBS over an encrypted connection. Your site NoroNetwork, EU Proxmox VE Offsite PBS backup encrypted connection

Back up from Proxmox VE straight to the offsite datastore. Deletion protection is included.

Connection details and credentials are provided when the service is set up.
Together with a local PBS this covers the 3-2-1 rule: the local copy is for fast restores, the offsite copy for disasters.

Features

What is
included.

  • Your own datastore

A dedicated datastore with its own quota. Your backups are never mixed with other customers'.

  • Deletion protection included

Protects the offsite copy from deletion. Included at no extra cost.

  • Client-side encryption

Fully supported. If you turn it on, data leaves your network encrypted with a key that stays only with you.

  • Nothing exposed

Nothing is exposed to the internet on either side. Backups travel over an encrypted connection.

  • Incremental and deduplicated

After the first full backup, only changed data is transferred.

  • Data stays in the EU

Stored in a Tier III datacenter in the EU.

Automated restore verification reports are coming soon.

FAQ

Offsite PBS
questions

Which PBS versions work?

Current Proxmox Backup Server releases, with Proxmox VE connecting through the standard PBS storage type. If you run an older version, contact support before you start.

Is a local PBS required?

It is the recommended setup: restores are fast from your own network, and the offsite copy is there for disasters. Without a local PBS you can use direct mode and back up from Proxmox VE straight to the offsite datastore.

Can NoroNetwork read the stored data?

Not if you use client-side encryption. Encrypted backups work without us having the key, and we never need it. Without encryption the data is stored as PBS stores it, so encrypt anything sensitive.

What happens if backups are deleted locally, by you or by ransomware?

Nothing happens to the offsite copy. In pull mode deletions on your side do not propagate, and the offsite storage has its own deletion protection on top.

How fast is a restore?

Restores normally come from your local PBS, at local network speed. A restore from the offsite copy is limited by your internet line, so it is meant for disasters, not everyday use.

Can the quota be increased later?

Yes. Ask for more terabytes at any time and the datastore is extended.

Can the service be cancelled?

Yes. Try it free for 7 days first. You can cancel by e-mail at any time, effective at the end of the paid period.
